Birmingham School Folk Festival

BIRMINGHAM SCHOOLS FOLK MUSIC FESTIVAL

Birmingham School Folk Music Festival

The festival was Organised by the Music Service of Birmingham City Council Education Department. It involved seven schools in Birmingham, participating and working closely with musicians from seven different cultures.

A series of workshops and rehearsals lead to the final event at Newman Teacher Training College.

The organiser Mr. Pat Brennan of Birmingham Music Service said “following this successful festival we look forward to having a bigger one next year.”

Our artists provided Chinese traditional music at St. Edward’s Primary School and performed Chinese music (written by Li Jiang) with the school orchestra.

Great Barr Primary School

Music Festival Concert

Year 2 of Birmingham School Folk Festival.

This was the second time we were involved in this festival. Our artists worked with Great Barr Primary School. For the first time, the pupils learnt and played Chinese operatic percussion following the operatic video played on screen.
