JIANG LI - Biography

SCHOOLING (1969 - 1980)

Shenzhen - The Shenzhen 1st Junior School (year 1 to year 5),
Shenzhen - The Shenzhen Five/Serven Middle School (year 6 to year 8),
Shenzhen - The Shenzhen High School (year 9 to year 10)

First performance was an acting role as a principal character in a famous Chinese new opera in the Shenzhen City Celebration Concert at the age of 6 (Shenzhen infant school)
Attending weekend music school throughout schooling to learn music basic and accordian.
A gap year as a accordian soloist for the "Baoan" Art Troupe at the age of 16.

CAREER (PROFESSIONAL)

1972 - 1974: Accordian soloist for Shenzhen Weekend Music and Arts School.

1977 - 1978: Accordian soloist for Baoan Arts Troupe.

1981 - 1982: Organ player for Bamboo Garden Hotel in Shenzhen - Became the first modern Chinese musician working for the first foreign owned hotel in southern China. Also formed the first pop band with drummer Yuyang.

1982 - 1985: Band leader, conductor and keyboard player at Xili Lake Holiday Vallige in Shenzhen and Happy Garden Night Club.

1987: As a composer and band leader, lead the band and represented Shenzhen City travelling to Holland, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom on tour.

1988 - 1989: Composer for Guangdong Radio station, other record companies, and Shenzhen Tourist Singing and Dancing Troupe.

1989 - 1990: Formed a company importing hi-tech equipment from Hong Kong to China. Working as a arranger, computer programmer, keyboard player and sound engineer for Music City Studio in Hong Kong. Working as keyboard player for various night clubs throughout Hong Kong.

1994 - Present (UK): Formed China People Promotions - a network organisation, promoting Chinese Culture and Arts to wide range of audience throughout the UK. Since then, writes, performs and teaches music within a wide range of communities. Leads Chinese Traditional Music workshops for schools and colleges and promotes Chinese Culture and Chinese traditional Arts.

1997 - Present: Leader of "Heart Of The Dragon" - a UK based Chinese performance group.

1997 - Present: CPP Music Production Owner - Productions of traditional and contemporary Chinese music.

1998 - Present: partner of DTL Solutions - a multimedia Production Company.

2001 - 2004: Core group member of Mainstream, Arts Council of England East Midlands

2003 - 2006: NESTA (National Endowment of Science, Technology and the Arts) Fellowship awardee.

2006 - Digidesign Pro Tools 210M Certified. Founder of protoolschina.com. Working with Digidesign providing support and user forum for education programmes for Chinese users.

2006 - Finalist of The Pearl Awards - Creative Excellence category.

(2006 ¨C present): Provide Inset training for teachers and education sector on Chinese culture and music teaching for key stage 1, 2 and 3.

Music for Media Productions for various music library companies. Broadcast widely on channels such as BBC Radio, ITV, Virgin Radio, Chinese Channel and others.
